I believe mature students learn far more quickly attempting their own ideas rather than making the same as everyone else.   After the first class, you’ll be able to start designing and making your own handmade jewellery – perhaps with a little help!

Student gets practical experience trying many different techniques. When a new student makes a silver chain “with irregular loops” soldering is learnt quickly. It is possible to adapt projects to suit an individual’s particular needs from complete beginner to the more advanced student wishing to further their skills. After a few classes, it may be possible to work at home, bringing the work to class, for finishing!

I am now introducing more work with precious clays into all classes and encouraging students to combine it with sterling silver.

There is plenty of time for help and supervision. All tools are supplied and an information sheet which is updated regularly. The traditional acids used in jewellery workshops, such as sulphuric acid, are not used in my work shop.

Visitors to Ireland on business or for pleasure are most welcome to join the classes even for a short duration.
